"Indifference to the problems that confront society is the unforgivable Jewish sin. 'Do not separate yourself from the community.' (Pirke Avot 2:5)
The Talmud teaches us: 'Whoever has the ability to prevent his household [from committing sin] and does not is accountable for the sins of his household.'"
-- Tough Choices
Almost every Danish Jew survived the Holocaust. Of Denmark's entire Jewish population, 472 souls were taken by the Nazis to Theresienstadt. 54 died there. The Germans forced one individual to Auschwitz. He survived. 20 individuals committed suicide just prior to the Nazi raid on all Jews in Copenhagen. 20 died fleeing to Sweden.
Judaism is a journey. Taking on the yoke of Torah is a life's work. This is a look back to my family's heritage and the values they taught me that brought me here.
